A 25-year-old man was expected to be charged for speeding and fleeing police Sunday after two high-speed police chases in the early hours.

Provincial police first tried to stop the driver for speeding on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge around 2:45 a.m., but he fled.

“The suspicious vehicle was seen a second time speeding on westbound Highway 720,” said Constable Catherine Bernard, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

“The high-speed chase ended on the eastbound service road of Highway 40, near St-Laurent Blvd. The suspect apparently lost control of his vehicle in a curve,” she added.

The driver, who was alone in his vehicle, was not injured.
