A Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after they say he threw methamphetamine out of his car window and led them on a 21-mile chase. Deputies first tried to pull the car over Saturday night just before 9 p.m. after Gregory Michael Cooley, 37, entered the roadway near Highway 273 and Caterpillar Road in what deputies described as an unsafe manner.

When deputies tried to stop the car Cooley continued and threw a container out the window. That container was later determined to contain meth.

The deputy continued to pursue the vehicle to Oasis Road, onto Lake Boulevard, through the City of Shasta Lake, and finally southbound on Interstate 5. Cooley reached speeds in excess of the posted speed limits and exceeded 100 miles per hour on Interstate 5.

Deputies say Cooley engaged in reckless driving such as crossing double yellow lines, unsafe lane changes, and failing to stop at stop signs.
