Helicopter video: Suspect fleeing deputies dives headfirst into South Daytona dumpster

A man fleeing from Volusia County deputies on New Year’s Eve sought refuge among the refuse, diving head-first into the dumpster behind a South Daytona business.
Unfortunately for the suspect, a Sheriff’s Office helicopter was hovering overhead and its operator relayed his location to deputies on the ground, leading to an arrest within minutes.
“I don’t know what he’s doing here,” the helicopter operator radioed to the pursuing deputies. “OK, he’s getting in the dumpster. He’s inside the dumpster. He just dove in.”
