BREAKING: Sour Lake officer injured, not shot, in encounter with man who took patrol car

SOUR LAKE — UPDATE: First responders and investigators tell KFDM/Fox 4 the injured Sour Lake Officer is in critical condition in the CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth ICU with multiple facial fractures from an encounter with a suspect at a convenience store.

We have learned from investigators at the scene, the Sour Lake Police Department Officer was NOT SHOT. We’re told the suspect shoved the officer’s head into the convenience store wall causing head trauma. The officer was taken by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth where he underwent a CT scan.

Right now, Multiple Law enforcement agencies from SETX, along with DPS are searching for the suspect who stole the officer’s patrol unit. The suspect ditched the car in the 6800 block of highway 326 north about six miles south of Kountze. Helicopters and Police K-9’s are searching for the suspect in a wooded area.
