Ex-Texas cadet accused of purposely firing shots that wounded 3 classmates

TEXAS CITY, Texas — Officials in southeast Texas have enhanced charges against a former police cadet in connection with a shooting that wounded three other cadets last month.
Police are no longer sure 21-year-old Clayton Whatley accidentally fired his gun during training April 25, according to the Galveston County Daily News.
The shooting happened at College of the Mainland Law Enforcement Training Academy in Texas City, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.
