Mich. LEOs get letter of thanks from family they helped saved from homelessness

MASON, Mich. —  A previously homeless family is thriving a year after two deputies lent a helping hand to them.

The deputies were conducting a welfare check and met the homeless Rodriguez family in summer 2018, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office says. The family of seven was down to their last $35 and were living in their van.

Joseph Rodriguez and his wife had recently lost their jobs and home because she had been in and out of the hospital for several weeks. Rodriguez had found a new job, but the family had used the last of their finances to pay for a hotel they were staying in and he hadn’t received his first paycheck yet.
