‘He is greatly missed’: 20 years later, Tybee Police honor officer killed in the line of duty

It was April 12, 1999 when the Tybee Police Department and the entire Chatham County community suffered a devastating loss.
Tybee Police Lt. Clyde Wilson “Trey” Alley III was killed when, in pursuit of four car break-in suspects, his police car struck two palm trees along U.S. 80.
He was an 11-year veteran of the department at the time of the incident. The department remembered Alley Friday on their Facebook page.
