Raleigh bank robbery ends in chase, I-440 crash; suspect charged

By: WRAL, apnews.com

A Friday afternoon bank robbery in north Raleigh led to a police chase that ended with a crash that closed part of Interstate 440 near Glenwood Avenue, police said.

The Capital Bank branch at 6511 Falls of Neuse Road was robbed at about 12:30 p.m., and John Weston, who works at the DSparada Color Salon across the street, said he saw a car speed out of the parking lot.

“He gets in his car and drives away, and then probably a few minutes later, after I finish my client’s hair, I see the police out there putting up crime scene tape,” Weston said. “I said, ‘Oh man, the bank just got robbed.’”
