Officer Hit By Car While Detaining Suspect Released from Hospital

A San Diego police officer who was hit by a car as he was detaining a suspect he had pinned down in the middle of Rosecrans Street Thursday was released from the hospital Friday.

The suspect, who was wanted for vandalism crimes, remains in the hospital in critical condition.

A white SUV slammed into the two just before 5 a.m. as the officer had the suspect pinned to the ground in the middle of Rosecrans Street near Midway Drive, San Diego Police Department Sgt. Thomas Sullivan said.
