Salina carjacking, chase injures suspect, deputy

A Saline Co. Sheriff’s deputy and a suspect were hurt Tuesday evening when a carjacking led to a police chase, gunfire, and crash.

Salina Police Chief Brad Nelson says it started just after 5 p.m., when the suspect stole a car at gunpoint from the Kwik Shop on Schilling Rd.

An officer spotted the vehicle just before 5:30 p.m. and tried to pull it over, but the suspect rammed the police vehicle, and drove off.
