By: Josh Bakan, patch.com

A Lanoka Harbor driver crashed into a parked Stafford police car and abruptly fled the scene Sunday on Route 9, according to police. The officer had pulled another driver over before the vehicle struck the left side of their police car, authorities said.

Another officer then stopped William D. Dippolito Jr., 31, of Lanoka Harbor, up Route 9 northbound near Marybell Road and charged him with DWI, police said. The incident occurred at approximately 12:43 a.m. Sunday by Southern Regional High School, according to police. The officer’s dash cam caught the crash.

The officer in the vehicle he hit was not injured, but the patrol vehicle was towed, authorities said. Police issued several summonses to Dippolito, including DWI, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and failing to report a motor vehicle accident.
