A miles-long procession, horse-drawn caisson and hundreds of mourners bid farewell to Chucky the police dog

In life, Chucky, a black-faced police dog with a bright pink tongue, sniffed out explosives, drugs and the occasional miscreant for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Shot and killed 10 days ago by a fleeing, violent suspect, Chucky soon came to represent every fallen officer, human or canine, for making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
