Police: Man almost ran over detective, led officers on 50-mile chase

WOODBURY – A nearly 50-mile police chase ended with a 30-year-old Holbrook man bleeding on the ground and under arrest early Tuesday morning.
According to court documents, the ordeal began late Monday when two Nassau County detectives went to a home on Patchogue-Holbrook Road in Holbrook. Police say Daniel Heckman got in his car, backed out of the driveway and almost ran over one of the detectives.
The detectives were trying to arrest Heckman for allegedly violating an order of protection and stealing his ex-wife’s cellphone from her car while she was in Hicksville.
