Man ‘growled like a dog’ after golf cart police chase: deputies

A contractor from Missouri who was staying at an upscale resort in Florida “growled like a dog” while being arrested after a wild police chase that began when he was spotted unconscious in a golf cart, sheriff officials said.

Parks Thornton Terry, 32, was passed out in a red golf cart at about 5 a.m. Monday when a public safety officer at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo approached him and asked him to step out of the vehicle, the Miami Herald reports, citing a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

But instead of getting out of the golf cart, deputies said Terry, of St. Louis, began “weaving all over the road” as he drove off. He then gave responding deputies the middle finger and yelled obscenities while driving erratically as the chase continued until he hopped out on South Harbor Drive, where he locked himself inside his mother’s house.
