Massachusetts State Police features StarChase for NBC News

Virginia Beach, VA, Feb. 7, 2025 — During their national Sunday evening broadcast this weekend, NBC Nightly News aired an important story about the way the Massachusetts State Police are avoiding dangerous high-speed chases and apprehending those who could do further harm in the community.

As the first state police agency in the northeast to pilot StarChase, MSP developed a clear policy framework for Troopers to use the technology, de-escalate police evasions, and continue pursuing suspects from a safe distance. In the last 8 months, MAP has successfully apprehended individuals who allegedly committed offenses related to narcotics, homicides, kidnapping, and operating under the influence.
