No charges against trooper who used PIT maneuver before fatal Moore County crash

CARTHAGE, N.C. (WNCN) — No charges will be filed against a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper for using the PIT maneuver, which resulted in the death of a man, the Moore County district attorney announced.
Officials say 22-year-old Shonquelle Devare Barrett of Aberdeen died when he crashed the Honda Accord he was driving into a telephone pole and tree during a police chase June 29, 2018.
The pursuit started in Southern Pines and ended on U.S. Highway 1, between Aberdeen and Pinebluff shortly after 10 p.m. that night.
